Namostat is used for acute pancreatitis and acute exacerbation of chronic pancreatitis. It is also used for hemodialysis, coronary artery bypass surgery, anticoagulation during liver resection, and glomerulonephritis with systemic lupus erythematosus or mixed cryoglobulinemia (Cryoglobulimemia). It is a synthetic serine proteolytic enzyme inhibitor with anticoagulant, anti-plasmin and anti-platelet aggregation effects.
